Tomorrow is February ALREADY?!?!

I'm shocked January is over! I am honestly going to be sad when the winter is over. This is the first winter I have really enjoyed! (Other than falling on the ice 2x's) haha.

I just love the white icing on everything, camoflaging the flaws...and the sunrises and sunsets are sooo awesome! I think I enjoy it so much more now that I am constantly outside..umm...running..lol.

Ohh its cold!

The weatherbug says 8 degrees....and I am gearing up to go run! Yes! I am nuts!

I kinda like this quote:

"good things fall apart so better things can fall together."
And I am back! Wow that run was soooo refreshing! I LOVE WINTER RUNNING!! L>O>V>E!!!
The best thing? Usually I am a snot machine, nonstop, the whole time. But in 10 degrees, your nosehairs freeze and the snot ceases! Haha!
I have officially decided I don't like watching TV. What the hell is the point? To watch other peoples lives or Hollywood lameos? I can sit at the computer all day long. At least I am interacting, learning, reading..but the TV? WTF is the point? Its loud, obnoxious, annoying, people screaming, stupid commercials, etc...I only watch if House or Chef Ramsey or Top Chef is on. And don't get me started on reality shows. EWWW!

I found this on another site...Healthy Tipping Point:

Mica from MicaPie sent me this list of Runner's Commandments (by Joe Kelly). I thought they were so funny (and so true) that I wanted to share them with you!

1. Don’t be a whiner. Nobody likes a whiner, not even other whiners. 2. Walking out the door is often the toughest part of a run. 3. Don’t make running your life. Make it part of your life. 4. During group training runs, don’t let anyone run alone. 5. Keep promises, especially ones made to yourself. 6. When doing group runs, start on time no matter who’s missing. 7. The faster you are the less you should talk about your times. 8. Keep a quarter in your pocket. One day you’ll need to call for a ride. 9. Don’t compare yourself to other runners. 10. All runners are equal, some are just faster than others. 11. Keep in mind that the later in the day it gets, the more likely it is that you won’t run. 12. For a change of pace, get driven out and then run back. 13. If it was easy, everybody would be a runner. 14. When standing in starting lines, remind yourself how fortunate you are to be there. 15. Getting out of shape is much easier than getting into shape. 16. A bad day of running still beats a good day at work. 17. Talk like a runner. “Singlets” are worn on warm days. “Tank tops” are worn to the beach. 18. Don’t talk about your running injuries. People don’t want to hear about your sore knee or black toe. 19. Don’t always run alone. 20. Don’t always run with people. 21. Approach running as if the quality of your life depended on it. 22. No matter how slow you run it is still faster than someone sitting on a couch. 23. Keep in mind that the harder you run during training, the luckier you’ll get during racing. 24. Races aren’t just for those who can run fast. 25. There are no shortcuts to running excellence. 26. The best runs sometimes come on days when you didn’t feel like running. 27. Be modest after a race, especially if you have reason to brag. 28. If you say, “Let’s run this race together,” then you must stay with that person no matter how slow. 29. Think twice before agreeing to run with someone during a race. 30. There is nothing boring about running. There are, however, boring people who run. 31. Look at hills as opportunities to pass people. 32. Distance running is like cod liver oil. At first it makes you feel awful, then it makes you feel better. 33. Never throw away the instructions to your running watch. 34. Don’t try to outrun dogs. 35. Don’t trust runners who show up at races claiming to be tired, out of share, or not feeling well. 36. Don’t wait for perfect weather. If you do, you won’t run very often. 37. When tempted to stop being a runner, make a list of the reasons you started. 38. Never run alongside very old or very young racers. They get all of the applause. 39. Without goals, training has no purpose. 40. During training runs, let the slowest runner in the group set the pace. 41. The first year in a new age group offers the best opportunity for trophies. 42. Go for broke, but be prepared to be broken. 43. Spend more time running on the roads than sitting on the couch. 44. Make progress in your training, but progress at your own rate. 45. “Winning” means different things to different people. 46. Unless you make your living as a runner, don’t take running too seriously. 47. Runners who never fail are runners who never try anything great. 48. Never tell a runner that he or she doesn’t look good in tights. 49. Never confuse the Ben-Gay tube with the toothpaste tube. 50. Never apologize for doing the best you can. 51. Preventing running injuries is easier than curing them. 52. Running is simple. Don’t make it complicated. 53. Running is always enjoyable. Sometimes, though, the joy doesn’t come until the end of the run.

GO OBAMA!!!!!!
My fave quotes from his speech:
*Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America - they will be met.
*We will not apologise for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defence, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.
*In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come.

I want to run at night (midnight) in the middle of a snowstorm. I will do this before the end of winter. Just to run on the illuminated grounds and hear nothing but my breath and the crunch of the snow.

Your horoscope for January 15, 2009
Are you afraid of appearing just a little silly in front of people sometimes, shannon? The fear of failing in the eyes of others might be holding you back from real progress. The celestial energies are asking you to think about this carefully today. With all of your analytical strengths and abilities, just think of all that you could accomplish if you had the courage to take more risks!

I found this on another site....

So life I think is like surfing in the ocean. You have a little control but mostly you are at the whim of the massive ocean and it's energy and you just have to ride the waves.

If you fight it, you die or get injured or pummeled.I've seen now life has peaks and troughs. Enjoy the good times, prepare for the bad times and ride the bad times out, because things will get better.

Don't waste your time worrying about stupid little things or stuff 10 bridges down the road. Do what you have to do, but enjoy your life. Don't live in fear and panic.

How true!

Ninja runners

Sooo...running in all black seems to be the newest thing..It never occured to me that I prefer...BLACK!

Haha so funny.

Today I did the most mountains...(err, hills) I think I have ever done. It was pretty damn cold too! 23 degrees, but I finally figured out how to dress for it. I have a new appreciation for NY winters! Just get out there!!!! Its awesome.

My calves are gonna hate me tomorrow! I need to stop being so negative when I run. When I get short of breath I automatically think

a) OMG I'm gonna die! Right now!

b) Stop! Pleeeeeease! Just for 10 seconds!

c)I'm gonna pass out

No. I need a mantra or something.

Oh can I just say, Clif kids bars in chocolate chip are so freakin awesome for a prerun snack? Chocolate brownie was my standby.. now i have a new fave. <3

I love my ritual! Run, shower (must have lavender showergel), drink tea...later drink a big ol glass of pinot. Ahh...

Hey all. Just chillin' on a saturday night! Snow is supposed to add up to 7 inches +! I want to go running tomorrow, snow or not. Go me. I've just realized that running=more obsessive over the weather channel. I freakin' Love TWC!! I NEEEED to know if its going to be flurrying and overcast with a slight NW wind of 10 mph. LOL! I have so many obsessions!

On another note, I am so happy I have a good job! The economy is in RUINS and I am glad to be where I am. I have the career thing figured out...everything else, not so much. Lol. Ok, I'm off to drink some wine and eat chinese food... ;)

Your horoscope for January 7, 2009
There is a dream that you may keep repeating over and over again in your head, shannon. Each day you may work out a different scenario for the way it comes to an end. You know that you will get to this critical decision at some point in your life, so why not experiment with all the solutions now? Stay calm and cool and turn to others when you get into a bind along the way.

Woke up to this!

Weekend's over.....

Back to work tomorrow! Today was a lazy day (besides the supppper hilly 4 miler in my brand new shoes!) Totally perfect. I love watching the birds, the people looking at me as if I am insane in the cold, gasping for breath, the trees, clouds, little streams...the snow icing all of the earth...everything blends and flows just as it was meant to. At that moment. I feel alive.
I'm just kinda mad, actually super mad that I haven't discovered outside running before. I wasted SO much time on the dreadmill!!!!! Ugh!
I need to bust out of my routine. I am so totally obsessive with routine and time that I need a change. A big change. A life change..but what is it? What is that piece I am searching for? I have a great career, am married....and no, a baby isn't the answer. I can barely look after myself. Ha.
Maybe I need a dog...or a hedgehog...

More obsessions.......

http://bondiband.com I totally need this!

I looooooooooooooooove this song....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8aikeQzBcI

Sweet Jesus. My car in March!!!! Can. not. wait!
http://www.mhrrc.org/MHRRCuploads/raceFlyers/2009WinterRunFlyer.pdf ooh! My 1st race...so excited

All i talk about is running, oops.

Well, today was my 1st really cold run (23 degrees) and................. it was freakin awesome! I bought some technical running attire and it makes all the difference in the world! Uh probably b/c I was running in COTTON before!!!! AAHHH!
I did an easy 4 miler. So relaxing...

"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

Your horoscope for January 3, 2009
Matters of the heart may not be going especially smoothly lately, considering that someone has been too aggressive in their approach, shannon. Or maybe you yourself have been too pushy about what you want. Inevitably this tension is building up and creating war and disharmony instead of love. Perhaps you need to closely examine the dynamics of the relationship you are in. Tough times may be an indication that the honeymoon is over. If you are single at this point in your life, it is probably for the best.
Your horoscope for January 4, 2009
Take some time to break out of your normal routine, shannon, and see what is going on in the world around you. It could be that you are so focused and so driven on a specific goal that you are failing to take into account the rest of the world. You may not even be aware that these outside energies have a huge effect on what you are doing in your own little compartment.

Wow those horoscopes couldn't be more RIGHT ON!

Anyways, planning my 5 mile run for today. Just bought new running gloves! Excited to use them. Then to Trader Joes (Aka Heaven) haha.
